The Story of Peak Extracts

Peak Extracts was founded in 2014 by licensed Chinese herbalist Katie Stem. Katie’s personal journey with Crohn’s disease, her work in medical research, and her study of traditional Chinese medicine all led her to a very special herb: cannabis. She created Peak Extracts as one of Oregon’s first licensed cannabis companies, built around quality, purity, and product lines that could help people.

Katie’s work in medical research led her to purchase a state-of-the-art CO2 extraction machine to make pure, full-spectrum extracts that preserve therapeutic components of the cannabis plant including terpenes.

While practicing Chinese medicine, Katie developed what would become Peak’s signature Rescue Rub topical formula based on a 2,000-year-old herbal remedy traditionally used for relieving discomfort.

Peak Extracts went on to develop lines of premium, award-winning infused chocolate bars and tinctures. After operating in Oregon’s adult-use cannabis market and the mainstream hemp industry for nearly a decade, Peak Extracts merged with longtime collaborator East Fork Cultivars in 2022.

Since joining the East Fork family, Katie’s and Peak’s work has informed and inspired East Fork’s small-batch edibles, topicals, and tinctures, all with a focus on precise dosing and consistent results.
